As a new cycle of The Voice premieres tonight on NBC, veteran coach Blake Shelton admits he's shaking in his boots at the addition of superstars Alicia Keys and Miley Cyrus to the panel.
“I don't know that we've ever had a shakeup like this season 11," the Oklahoma native says. "And I have no idea what to expect, whatsoever. Because, you know, you've got two incredibly talented people, but they also happen to be these larger-than-life, female, dominant personalities, too… We've never had two female coaches at the same time on the show before and I'm a little bit intimidated. I'm afraid. I'm just gonna tell you right now!”
Even more than that, since Billy Ray Cyrus had a huge country hit with "Achy Breaky Heart" and one of Miley's big songs came from Music City writers, Blake expects the former teen sensation is coming for him.
“I know what she's gonna do," Blake says. "She's gonna try to play the Nashville country card on me. And she does have some country music credibility, no question about it. Not only because of her dad, but because 'The Climb' was a big country hit also. But, I hope she's not over-confident, because Nashville is -- that's still my corner of this show and if she thinks that she's just gonna take these artists from me without a fight, she's got another thing coming!”
You can catch Blake squaring off against Miley, Alicia Keys and his man-crush Adam Levine tonight at 8 p.m. ET on NBC.
