The Elbert County Board of Commissioners will hold a called meeting Monday to consider approval of an $11.7 million annual budget for fiscal year 2019, which began July 1. The county has been operating on a continuation of last year’s budget since that time.
The commissioners will also consider proposals from local banks for a tax anticipation note, or line of credit for the remainder of the calendar year – an action aimed at maintaining positive cash flow for the county while awaiting property tax payments that are due later in the year.
The agenda also includes a closed session for the board and county attorney to discuss litigation. The commissioners were recently sued by owners of the Sweet City Landfill over what the plaintiffs contend was a civil conspiracy against the proposed landfill development six years ago.
The commissioners’ called meeting begins at noon Monday at the Elbert County Governmental Complex.
