Chihuahua Rescued After Chase Across San Francisco Bay Bridge

iStock/Thinkstock(SAN FRANCISCO) -- A suspect is now in custody after leading California Highway Patrol officers on a high-speed chase Sunday morning.

The suspect? A dog.

A missing Chihuahua was reported to be running from officers in the eastbound lanes of the Bay Bridge in San Francisco. CHP officials said the dog, a black Chihuahua, ran against traffic at one point, according to ABC News affiliate KGO-TV.

CHP officials tweeted later on Sunday that the dog was safe and looking for its owner. In the meantime, the Chihuahua is in the hands of San Francisco County Animal Care.
