The Elbert County Planning and Zoning Commission met on Thursday evening at the County Governmental Complex to discuss various zoning issues. Two of the most contentious issues were the re-zoning from Agricultural to industrial of a tract of land on the Bowman Hwy for the new Feed / Grain mill. Many showed up in opposition to this matter including speaker Arthur Lamont. In the end the Commission voted to table the zoning request until more information on the size, scope and environmental impact from the mill could be determined.
The other item with the most citizen input was on a parcel of land at 1798 William Smith Road to be re-zoned from Agriculture to Industrial. After many speakers voicing opposition to this the zoning commission voted NOT to re-zone this property and leave it as Agricultural.
