Coosa brings high-scoring offense to playoff showdown with Blue Devils

It’s a big week for the Elbert County Blue Devils as they prepare to meet Coosa High School from Rome, Georgia, in the first round of the state Class AA football playoffs Friday night in the Granite Bowl.

The Coosa Eagles shut out Gordon Central 44-0 last Friday night to end the regular season with a 7-3 overall record and a third place finish in Region 7-AA. Coosa’s offense is averaging 35 points per game, and the Eagles’ defense is allowing an average of 19 points per game entering the team’s first postseason appearance since 2014.
Kickoff time will be 7:30 p.m. Friday, with gates opening at 6 p.m. Advance tickets are available at all Elbert County schools. Adult tickets are $8. Advance student tickets are $6. All tickets at the gate will be $8.
