Decision Day for Voters in Elberton and Bowman

Today is Election Day, with voters the cities of Elberton and Bowman going to the polls to decide who will be their mayor for the next two years and for a contested city council post in Elberton’s Ward 5.

In Elberton, incumbent Mayor Larry Guest is challenged by political newcomer Mike Fernandez. Incumbent City Council Member Joel Seymour and challenger Kyle Parham are vying for the Ward 5 council seat. A total of 354 Elberton voters cast their ballots during the early voting period.

In Bowman, incumbent Mayor Betty Jo Maxwell faces challenger Mark Berryman, a current city council member. Ninety-two voters took part in early voting in Bowman.
Polls are open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the Elberton City Hall and the Bowman Community Center.
