Dollywood Unharmed, but Closed Until Friday; More Than a Dozen Cabins Damaged or Destroyed

Credit: Fran StrineEven though the devastating East Tennessee wildfires didn’t do any damage to Dolly Parton’s theme park itself, the staff of Dollywood will take the next two days to help the Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg communities recover.

More than a dozen rustic homes managed by Dollywood’s Smoky Mountain Cabins were either damaged or destroyed. Monday night, 19 of the structures on property near the park were evacuated as a precaution. Families in 50 rooms at the new DreamMore Resort had to relocate for their safety as well.

As of Tuesday, DreamMore is back open. Dollywood itself will carry on with its annual holiday Smoky Mountain Christmas celebration on Friday, opening at its regular time, 2 p.m. ET.
