Dot get funds to improve Bridges

gdotThree northeast bridges will be getting much-needed repairs beginning this fall thanks to a new program from the Georgia Department of Transportation.  Late last week, G-DOT announced the program, called Bridge Bundles and listed the specific bridges in our area that will be repaired.

They include, the Bridge on Carpenter Road over Coldwater Creek in Elbert County, the bridge on Royston Highway over Pruitt Creek three miles north of Vanna in Hart County, and the bridge on Currahee Lane at the North Fork of the Broad River in Stephens County.

The Elbert County bridge over Coldwater Creek was built in 1965 and will also be replaced with a new bridge.

Total cost of the two bridge replacements is $2.6 million dollars.
