The Elbert County Comprehensive High School Fall Sports Banquet was held Tuesday evening in the ROC building at Elberton First Baptist Church.

Members of the 2017 Blue Devil football, softball, cross-country and one-act play teams and varsity and JV cheerleaders were honored.

Elbert County Blue Devil Football Senior Tay Huff was named the winner of the L.C. Piccirillo Football Scholarship. The award was presented by Lenny and Ciro Piccirillo (children of the award originator), pictured here with Tay. Each year the award winner is selected by Elbert County football coaches, who are asked to select the Blue Devil player who shows the most sportsmanship, provides the most leadership and displays the most competitive spirit among the senior players. Tay is the 48th winner of the prestigious Piccirillo Award.

Sponsored by Augusta Coca-Cola, the Golden Helmet Award is given to one football player each year who has displayed outstanding accomplishment in academic and athletic performance throughout the season. The 2017 recipient of the Golden Helmet Award is ECCHS Junior Daniel Lavender.

Lettermen’s Jackets were also awarded to many deserving students at Monday’s Banquet.
