Fraud charges result from $2,375 in credit card transactions

Elbert County Sheriff Melvin Andrews has announced the arrest of a Bowman resident on fraud charges related to credit card purchases and cash-back transactions.

Ashley Nicole Walker, age 30, faces 36 counts of financial transaction card fraud, in addition to probation violation charges, according to the sheriff’s report.

Walker is accused of the unauthorized use of a company credit card, issued to Mike’s Pest Control in Bowman, during six visits to Wal-Mart between May 10 and May 16, according to sheriff’s investigators. The card was intended for authorized gas purchases but was used for $2,075 in unauthorized purchases and $300 in unauthorized cash-back transactions, investigators said.

Walker was arrested June 4 and remains incarcerated at the Elbert County Detention Center, according to the sheriff’s report.
