GUILTY VERDICT In Watkins Trial

After almost a week of Superior Court, the murder trial of Michael Watkins who was accused of murdering Meredith Watkins concluded Thursday afternoon.
The Honorable Judge Thomas Hodges, in a bench trial found Watkins guilty of felony involuntary manslaughter in the death of Meredith Watkins.
Watkins was found not guilty on charges of malice murder, felony murder and aggravated assault in connection with the 2013 death.
Immediately after rendering his verdict Judge Hodges sentenced Watkins to 10 years to be served in prison with credit for one year already served in the Elbert County detention center.
Meredith Watkins body was located in June of 2013 after drowning near the Coldwater Creek Boat Ramp
