"Jesus, Take the Wheel": Carrie Underwood gets stopped for speeding

ABC/Image Group LA You can pretty much fill in your own “Jesus, Take the Wheel” joke at this point: Carrie Underwood took to her socials on Monday to confess she’d just gotten stopped for driving too fast.

“Well, it happened today,” the American Idol winner tweeted. “After 18 years, I can no longer say I’ve never been pulled over for speeding.”

“I feel so ashamed! I may or may not have cried in my car after the cop let me go,” she closed, adding the hashtags #RuleFollower, #GrannyDriver, and #ImSorry.

It’s a big week ahead for Carrie: She’ll open the Super Bowl on Sunday with a new, previously-recorded version of her latest song, “The Champion.”
