Kenny Chesney’s follow-up to his multiple-week #1, “Get Along,” will be the track “Better Boat.” The tune is the closing cut on Kenny’s Songs for the Saints album, whose proceeds will go to help the Virgin Islands recover from the impact of last year’s storms.
“Of all the songs on Songs for the Saints,” Kenny points out, “‘Better Boat’ really captures the emotion of that moment -- and the months following Hurricanes Irma and Maria. There’s an acceptance it takes to face those challenges and all that uncertainty, something I know I’ve never seen in my lifetime.”
He continues: “There’s a lyric that goes, ‘I ride the waves I can’t control…’ And that’s exactly how this was, and in some way, still is.”
“Better Boat” features vocals from Americana favorite Mindy Smith, an artist Kenny frequently listened to when he first started spending time in the Caribbean.
