King George Takes a Hands-On Approach to "Strait Out of the Box: Part 2"

MCA NashvilleHis performance Wednesday night on The 50th Annual CMA Awards isn’t George Strait’s only major event this month. On November 18, Strait Out of the Box: Part 2 will be released exclusively at Walmart.

King George himself selected the 56 tracks on the three discs. In all, he settled on 26 number-ones, 18 album cuts and two new songs, chronicling his career since 1996.

“Going back through all the songs for this box set does bring back a lot of old memories,” the Country Music Hall of Famer admits. “A lot of them we considered for radio singles and for whatever reason, we just picked something else. It was not that hard to pick them after I looked through them because there are just so many that are my favorites.”

George co-wrote both of the new tunes, collaborating on “Kicked Outta Country” with Jamey Johnson, and turning to his son Bubba and longtime partner Dean Dillon for “You Gotta Go Through Hell.”

If you’re a fan of the album’s artwork, you can even order a silver-plated belt buckle online to match.
