Local pharmacy robbed at gunpoint

Elberton Police are investigating an armed robbery that was reported Sunday afternoon at Elberton Pharmacy on Elbert Street.  Sgt. Scott Marunich said police are seeking a white female suspect who walked into the pharmacy at 1:40 p.m. and asked pharmacist Charles Thomas what brand of oxycodone the store carries. Thomas went to retrieve three bottles of the medication from behind the pharmacy counter, and when he returned, the suspect was brandishing a gun and demanded he turn over the bottles to her.

The suspect left the store with the three bottles of varying quantities of oxycodone, with an estimated generic value of $150, Marunich said. The suspect was wearing a gray or black hoodie pulled over her head and sunglasses. The store’s video surveillance followed her only to the storefront, Marunich said.
