Luke Bryan says "Most People Are Good" was a "really important song for the world to hear"

Capitol NashvilleEven though Luke Bryan's closing in on ten career ACM Awards, the Georgia native is still plenty excited about the possibility of adding two more trophies to his collection.

"The opportunity to go to the ACMs with two nominations, Entertainer of the Year and Single of the Year -- is just a huge honor for me," he reflects.

Luke's particularly stoked to be recognized for his second number-one from his What Makes You Country album.

"When I was able to record ‘Most People Are Good,’" he explains, "I just felt like it was a really, really important song for the world to hear, an important song for me to have in my live show and to put out on radio. And to have it nominated is so rewarding for me, and I’m so happy for the songwriters."

Luke's already been named Entertainer of the Year by the Academy of Country Music twice, in 2012 and 2014. But he says he's always working on upping his game.

"To have an Entertainer of the Year nomination is a huge honor for me," the American Idol judge points out. "It’s something that I really, really work hard every year to try to be a better Entertainer, and a better singer and a better performer."

Of course, Luke also admits he's ready to have a little fun in Sin City.

"Nothing is better than going to the ACMs in Vegas, having a couple of nominations and just being out there enjoying the show, enjoying the party and being in the room and seeing what happens."

"I’m humbled by it, and it’s gonna be exciting the night of the ACMs," says Luke.

Reba McEntire hosts the 54th ACM Awards, starting at 8 p.m. ET on Sunday, April 7 on CBS.
