Man Arrested for Throwing Bag, Jumping Over White House Fence

iStock/Thinkstock(WASHINGTON) -- A man was arrested late Friday night after he allegedly threw a backpack and the jumped over the north fence of the White House.

According to the Secret Service, the incident occurred at approximately 11:44 p.m., more than four hours after President Obama returned home from the Nuclear Security Summit.

The man was "immediately taken into custody" by the Secret Service "without incident" and charged with unlawful entry. He was then transported to the D.C. Metropolitan police department, the Secret Service said.

The Secret Service says standard security sweeps were conducted and nothing was found, and the White House complex returned to normal operations.

A spokesman did not respond to questions over the contents of the individual's backpack or his identity.
