New Sales Tax in effect as of July 1

The new one percent Special Local Option Sales tax that Elbert County voters approved in a referendum this past March 19th will take effect July 1st. That will bring the sales tax rate in Elbert County to eight percent total.
The tax that begins July 1, 2019, has an expiration date of June 30, 2024 or at the end of the quarter where the raising of $9,840,000.00 is reached, whichever occurs first.
All businesses and dealers making sales within the county have until the twentieth of the following month in which to file their sales tax return.
The new one percent tax has been allocated for paving / transportation projects in Elbert County.
