Police: Armed Subject Reported at Texas Walmart Is ‘Apparently’ Dead

iStock/Thinkstock(AMARILLO, Texas) -- The armed subject reported inside a Walmart in Amarillo, Texas, is "apparently dead," according to police.

The suspect was shot by a member of the Amarillo Police Department SWAT Team, police said. The hostages inside are safe, police said.

At least one gunshot was fired, according to an eyewitness. No one was injured in Tuesday's incident, the Amarillo Police Department said.

The Walmart was shut down as the investigation took place. Police were asking people to avoid the area so officers could focus on the scene.
