Report: Martina and John McBride sued by former employee over treatment of interns

ABC/Image Group LA A former employee of Martina McBride and her husband John is suing the couple for $1 million, according to TMZ.

Richard Hanson says he ran the McBrides' internship program until last year, and alleges the two forced unpaid interns to do menial tasks like clean bathrooms, deliver food, and set up and tear down equipment. He also claims John once sent two interns to his home with a loaded gun to check for an intruder.

Hanson says he repeatedly urged the McBrides to at least pay the interns minimum wage, and finally filed a claim with the Department of Labor in 2017. He alleges John fired him in retaliation after that.

So far, the McBrides have not responded to the allegation.
