The Elbert County Board of Commissioners met Monday afternoon at 5:30 for the regular July Meeting. The Board adopted the Minutes of the Called Meeting on June 8, 2017 and June 29, 2017 and the Regular Meeting on June 12, 2017.
The Board approved a request from the Elbert County Library to name two individuals to a three year appointment to the Library Board of Trustees. Rob Leverett and Susan Fricks will serve on the Board.
Commissioners approved of the Elbert County Planning Commission’s recommendations.
Commissioners approved a bid for Bobby Brown Park for a small tractor and lawnmower to be purchased from Palmer Equipment Company for a total of $46,849.00 to be paid for from SPLOST funds.
County Fire Chief Rick Mewborn came before the board and presented a Discussion of Elbert County’s receiving of a Fire Grant for the purchase of a new truck in the amount of $172,500. Elbert County will match a maximum of 15% from SPLOST funds to buy the truck. The vote was unanimous to purchase this for the fire department
County Administrator Bob Thomas reported to the county on 3 bids received for the State Court indigent defense attorney. It was recommended by county attorney Bill Daughtry that as a courtesy, to allow the State Court Judge to review the proposals before making any decisions on who to hire.
