Shots Fired on Elberton’s Downtown Square

elb policeThe Elberton Police Department is investigating a shooting that occurred at 4:43 PM on Thursday afternoon on the downtown square near Papa’s Pizza. Officers were called to the scene where a shot had been fired hitting a window in Papa’s Pizza. A witness stated that a tall thin black male fired a gun at another individual and then left the scene on foot. Running to the corner of South Oliver Street and Presbyterian Lane.

After about a 45 minute standoff  the suspect surrendered to Elberton Police. Elberton Police have charged 18 year old Caleb Johnson with 6 counts of aggravated assault and 1 count of criminal damage to property in the 1st degree. No injuries were reported in the incident and it is currently being investigated by the Elberton Police Department.
