"Shut Up and Chill Out!": Justin Moore Reveals the Conversation that Inspired "Kinda Don’t Care"

BMLG It’s ironic that Justin Moore decided to call his fourth studio album Kinda Don’t Care, since in fact, the Arkansas native cares a lot.

"I do, I'm proud of it, man!” he confesses. “The title actually was me just kinda tongue-in-cheek throwing something out there to make somebody giggle.”

But Justin admits the moniker has its roots in his hesitancy to change.

“I was pushed -- willingly -- outside of my comfort zone on this album in some spots…” he reveals. “I kinda was concerned about that in the eyes of my fans.”

In the end, a come-to-Jesus talk with his producer calmed his fears, and planted the seed for the record’s name.

“He goes, 'Dude, if you sing it, it sounds country!'” Justin remembers. “ He said, 'You need to chill out. If you have passion for this music... and you enjoy making it and playing it, then everybody else is going to enjoy… it, so, shut up and chill out!' So, I thought, 'You know what?... he's right. I need to not really care and just enjoy the process.'”

Kinda Don’t Care features the top-10 lead single “You Look Like I Need a Drink.” It’s available Friday, in both the standard and a deluxe edition, which features five extra songs.
