Six face drug charges in Elbert County traffic stops

Elbert County Sheriff’s deputies arrested six individuals in four separate traffic stops over the past week.

Two individuals were arrested as the result of a Nov. 2 traffic stop on South Segars Street by Elbert County deputies. Jill Craft, 18, and Shannon J. Booth, 41, both face drug-related charges as a result of the stop.

Craft has been charged with possession of methamphetamine, DUI (drugs), seat belt violation, failure to maintain lane, possession of marijuana (less than an ounce) and possession and use of drug-related objects.

Booth has been charged with possession of marijuana (less than an ounce) and possession of drug-related objects.

Colby D. Brown, 29, and Teresa A. Burrows, 54, were arrested as the result of a traffic stop on Elbert Street.

Brown was charged with DUI (multiple substances), possession of an open alcoholic beverage container and possession and use of drug-related objects.

Burrows was charged with possession of marijuana (less than an ounce) and possession and use of drug-related objects.

While conducting safety checkpoints in the county, deputies also arrested two individuals in separate stops.

Artavious Blakely, 18, was arrested on Nov. 5 as the result of stopping at a safety checkpoint on Highway 172 near the Madison County line. According to reports, Blakely was charged with possession of marijuana (less than an ounce), DUI (drugs) and violating restrictions on a Class D driver’s license.

James A. Wilson, 18, was also arrested on Nov. 5 after stopping for the same safety checkpoint. Wilson was charged with DUI (drugs) an possession and use of drug-related objects.
