Team Georgia’s first World Series game Monday at 2 p.m

Elbert County’s Team Georgia All-Stars will play their first game in the Junior League Baseball World Series on Monday at 2 p.m. in Taylor, Mich., a suburb of Detroit.
Team Georgia, the Southeast Regional champion, drew a first-round bye in the tournament and will meet the winner of Sunday’s game between Southwest Regional winner Lufkin, Texas, and the winner of the Central Region, whose championship game was scheduled for Thursday night.
Opening ceremonies for the World Series will take place Sunday at 11 a.m. at Volunteer Stadium in Taylor. Elbert County will be competing in the U.S. bracket with teams from Pennsylvania, Michigan, Texas, California and the to-be-determined Central Region winner. The International bracket includes teams from Chinese Taipei, Australia, Canada, Italy, Aruba and Mexico.
The U.S. and International bracket winners will meet Aug. 19 at noon in the Junior League championship game to be televised on ESPN2.
