Officers responded to a call Feb. 3 at 1 South Public Square in reference to a damage to property report. According to the report the subject told officers a former boyfriend had slashed the tires on her friends 2002 Dodge Ram pickup truck on Jan. 11.
The Royston Police Department and Hart County Sheriff’s Office requested assistance from the EPD on Jan. 22 in recovering a stolen vehicle. The agencies went to a Second Street location where they were able to recover the 2008 Chevrolet Malibu. The report stated the vehicle had been stolen from Royston and possibly used in a burglary at Uncle Charlie’s in Hart County.
Felony theft by taking was investigated on Long Avenue on Jan. 26 when officers responded to a call in reference to someone taking $710 in consumable goods. Along with the felony theft, the suspects also damaged public utilities property.
Dylan Parks Sauls, 18, of 179 Brookside Drive, was arrested on Jan. 29 and charged with DUI (under 21) and failure to signal when turning or changing lanes as the result of a traffic stop on Elbert Street.
Officers responded to a call on West Tate Street on Jan. 31 in reference to a burglary which occurred some time between 6:20-7 p.m. According to the report someone entered the back door of the residence and took items valed at $1,200. A juvenile has been arrested in connection with the incident and the case is still under investigation.
Charles Michael Miller, 49, of 2383 Tex Smith Drive, was arrested on Feb. 2 and charged with possession of a Schedule II drug (morphine), possession of a Schedule II drug (Oxycontin) and seat belt violation as the result of a traffic stop on Elbert Street.
David Jermaine Waller, 37, of Lexington, was arrested on Feb. 2 and charged with DUI (alcohol) and failure to maintain lane as the result of a traffic stop on Bartlett Street.
Officers responded to a call on Feb. 4 in reference to someone entering a 1991 Honda Accord at a business on Elbert Street and taking items valued at $50.
On Feb. 5 officers took a report of someone entering a 2006 Dodge Charger parked on Thomas Street and taking $25 in cash.
