Elbert County Sheriff Melvin Andrews, the Elbert County Coroner’s Office and the Northern Judicial Circuit District Attorney’s Office are continuing their investigation into the death by homicide of an 86-year-old Elbert County man whose body was recovered from a farm pond Monday. Sheriff’s officers said Otha Perrin had been reported missing Sunday from his home on Pearl Mill Road. It had been speculated he had walked away or had been picked up by someone else, as his car was still at the residence.
On Tuesday, Sheriff’s officers said three individuals were being held at the Elbert County Detention Center, and the victim’s body had been sent to the State Crime Lab for an autopsy.
Also assisting in the investigation are the State Probation Office and the Athens-Clarke County Police Department.
