Thursday Commissioners Meeting Notes

The Elbert County Board of Commissioners met in a work session on Thursday afternoon. Items’s discussed in the work session Bill Hood gave an update on “Keep Elbert County Beautiful” activities.

Daniel Graves representing Elbert Memorial Hospital provided additional information regarding hospital finances. Graves gave the Board the Volume numbers at the Elbert Memorial Hospital for the year 2017. Those numbers are 646 Acute Admissions, 7181 Emergency Room visits,11982 out-patient proceedures and 838 Surgeries (double the surgical volume of 2016). Graves then asked the county for 3 mills of property tax assistance from the county.

The Board then Discussed an amendment to the 2015 Community Development Block Grant Activity.

Discussed the bid for wood grinding services at the Elbert County Transfer Site.

Discussed various zoning requests and then had a discussion regarding construction of new fire stations at Centerville and Deep Creek.

Bids for a Tax Anticipation Note for Elbert County for calendar year 2017 were discussed and reading of those bids was tabled until Monday nights meeting..

Discussed the agreement with the Chamber of Commerce and Elbert County for providing services and supplying a tourism program to serve all citizens of Elbert County and to entice visitors to the community as an economic benefit.

Discussed approval of a beer and wine license for Pyramid Petro. The property is under new ownership. Finally the Board Discussed advertising for a public hearing to set the millage rate for 2017.

The Board of Commissioners will meet again for the regular monthly meeting on Monday of next week
