Tom Denny, Kyle Brown named to Athens Tech Board of Directors

Athens Technical College has announced the appointment and installation of Tom Denny of Elberton and Kyle Brown of Tignall to the college’s Board of Directors.
A native of Elberton, Denny is a graduate of Elbert County High School, Middle Georgia College and the University of Georgia. He worked as an air traffic controller with the Federal Aviation Administration from 1974 through 2011, retiring as the air traffic/district manager of the Charlotte, North Carolina, Air Traffic Control Tower. Denny is a member of Elberton First United Methodist Church and is a past chair of the Development Authority of Elbert County, Elberton and Bowman. He currently provides limited flight instruction and pilot services and serves as a court bailiff in Elbert County.
Brown is a graduate of Emmanuel College and the University of Georgia and is the owner/operator of Broad Farms in Tignall and Kyle Brown Rental Properties. From 1985 through 2018, Brown served as county executive director for the U.S. Department of Agriculture, advocating and representing farmers in Wilkes, Lincoln, Taliaferro, McDuffie, Richmond, Warren and Columbia counties. He serves as chair of the Wilkes County Planning & Zoning Board and is a past president of the Wilkes County Optimist Club. He is a deacon and Sunday School teacher at Elberton Pentecostal Holiness Church.
The Local Board of Directors interprets State Board policies and provides supplemental policies to ensure that the needs of the citizenry, business, and industry in Athens Technical College’s service area are met to the highest possible degree and in the most cost-effective and efficient manner, within the guidelines of the policies and goals and objectives of the State Board of Technical and Adult Education.
