Two Bailiffs and Gunman Dead in Michigan Courthouse Shooting

iStock/Thinkstock(ST. JOSEPH, Mich.) -- Three people are dead -- including two bailiffs -- in a shooting at a courthouse in Berrien County, Michigan, Monday afternoon, officials said.

The suspect also died, Berrien County Sheriff Paul Bailey said.

Several other people were injured, including a deputy sheriff and civilians, Bailey said. The deputy was in stable condition, but the condition of the others was not clear.

"We ask people to pray for the families of the deceased," Bailey told reporters.

Bailey said that the people inside the courthouse "went for shelter once the shooting occurred."

"And other brave officers were able to come to the rescue and take the shooter down," Bailey added.

Gov. Rick Snyder said state police have secured the scene and are investigating.
