Two drivers injured in collision

The drivers of two vehicles involved in a near head-on collision Thursday morning on the Calhoun Falls Highway were transported to healthcare facilities for treatment of their injuries.

Conner Johnson, 23, of a Valley View Court, Elberton, address was treated at the scene and airlifted to the trauma center at Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta, according to Elbert County Emergency Services Director Chuck Almond. Johnson is an EMT and paramedic student with the Elbert County EMS, Almond said.

The other driver, 19-year-old Joseph Owens of an Owens Road, Elberton, address was treated at the scene and transported by Elbert County EMS to Elbert Memorial Hospital.

Almond said the crash occurred at approximately 8:35 a.m. Thursday in the vicinity of Elberton Christian Church.
