Earlier this morning, two white male prisoners out of Putnam County escaped from a prison bus after killing two corrections officers and taking their handguns. They are reportedly traveling in a 2004 Honda Civic, dark green in color, tag number RBJ6601, Two escapees also broke into a home in the City of Madison, Georgia and took clothes, leaving their prison clothes behind and made their escape from there. . Do not approach, as these men are armed and extremely dangerous. Please call 9-1-1 if you have any information on the whereabouts of the escapees: Ricky Dubose who has ties to Elberton,Elbert County and Madison County and Danny Rowe.
According to a post from Northern Judicial Circuit District Attorney, Parks White Ricky Dubose plead guilty in 2015 to Armed Robbery and Aggravated Assault and received a sentence of 20 years without the possibility of parole.
The Slain Officers have been identified as Christopher Monica, 42, who began his career with Department of Corrections in October 2009 as a Correctional Officer at Hancock State Prison. He transferred to Baldwin State Prison in February of 2011. He was promoted to Sergeant at Baldwin State Prison in July of 2012. In July of 2016, Sergeant Monica accepted a job at the Transportation Unit in Milledgeville, Georgia. Sergeant Monica recently accepted a part-time position at Augusta State Medical Prison as well.
The second officer has been identified as Curtis Billue, 58, who began his career with Georgia Department of Corrections in July 2007 at Frank Scott Correctional Facility as a Correctional Officer. He later transferred to Georgia Diagnostic Classification Prison in August of 2009. Sergeant Billue transferred to Baldwin State Prison in October 2011. He accepted a position at the Transportation Unit in Milledgeville, Georgia, in March 2013.
U.S. Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein said during testimony before a Senate budget panel in Washington Tuesday morning that federal resources are being committed to help catch the fugitives.
According to Putnam County Sheriff Howard Sills in a statement, Russell Rowe and Dubose overpowered the two guards while on a Georgia State Prison bus traveling on Highway 16 between Eatonton and Sparta.
A $60,000 reward is being offered for the recapture of two inmates accused of shooting and killing two Georgia prison guards on a transport bus in Putnam County early Tuesday morning, according to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation. The reward is expected to increase.
