Two Police Officers Shot in Sebastian County, Arkansas

iStock/Thinkstock(FORT SMITH, Ark.) -- At least two law enforcement officers were shot Wednesday in Sebastian County, Arkansas, according to ABC affiliate KHBS-TV.

The shooting was confirmed to ABC News by Sandy Sanders, the mayor of Fort Smith, Arkansas.

KHBS-TV described the area as an "active shooter scene."

The conditions of the officers are unknown at this time.

Local and state police are on "high alert" and are actively searching for a suspect, KHBS reported.
