Georgia’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate last monthwas 5.5 percent, according to the Georgia Department of Labor.
That’s down 1.1 percentage points from December 2014.
“The rate dropped to its lowest level in nearly seven years as our employers continued to create jobs and hire more people,” said Mark Butler, Georgia’s labor commissioner.
Among the areas seeing a boost in employment opportunities: professional and business services, trade, transportation and warehousing and education and health services.
