Update: Wreck on Calhoun Falls Hwy

life-flight-helicopterThe Elbert County Sheriff’s Office, Elbert County Emergency Services, Elbert County Fire Department and Georgia State Patrol have investigated a one-car accident which occurred on Calhoun Falls Highway near Rose Hill. According to GSP Athens Post Commander Scott Andrews, there were two passengers in the vehicle, James Griffin, 43, and his 3-year-old daughter. Andrews said the vehicle left the roadway without braking and struck a tree head on. Griffin was airlifted to a Greenville healthcare center with head injuries and the child was transported by ambulance to Elbert Memorial Hospital. The report stated the cause of the accident was either driver fatigue or he fell asleep while driving. The last report had Griffin in critical condition.
