Watch now: Maddie & Tae each chase romance in new "Friends Don’t" video

UMGMaddie & Tae each get their own storyline -- and their own romance -- in the fun new video for “Friends Don’t.”

The action starts at a house party in Nashville, propelled forward by lots of texts and at least one trip in an Uber.

"We both got to do a little acting and play out separate storylines with a love interest,” Maddie Marlow explains. “It was pretty outside of the box for us to act, so we just tried to have fun with it."

Maddie & Tae have a pretty impressive history when it comes to videos: They won the CMA Video of the Year award for their debut smash, “Girl in a Country Song,” in 2015.

The two both had a hand in writing the lead release from their forthcoming sophomore album.

“To us ‘Friends Don’t’ feels sexy and confident,” Tae Dye says, “but with a dash of that uncertainty you have at the start of a relationship because you don’t know if the other person feels the same way you do. We wanted to play off that ‘push and pull’ we’ve all felt before."
