Watkins Pleaded Guilty in Elbert Superior Court

Michael Watkins was back in Elbert Superior Court today and pleaded Guilty to the charge of aggravated sexual battery. The Honorable Judge Thomas L. Hodges  sentenced Watkins to 10 years to be served in prison, probation for life and Watkins is required to register as a sexual offender.

In  a bench trial earlier this year Watkins was found guilty of felony involuntary manslaughter in the death of Meredith Watkins.
Watkins was found not guilty on charges of malice murder, felony murder and aggravated assault in connection with the 2013 death.
Immediately after rendering his verdict Judge Hodges sentenced Watkins to 10 years to be served in prison with credit for one year already served in the Elbert County detention center.
Meredith Watkins body was located in June of 2013 after drowning near the Coldwater Creek Boat Ramp
