(COALINGA, Calif.) -- Both the west and the east coast are seeing severe weather this holiday weekend.
Twenty large fires are burning in nine states in the west, including the Trailhead Fire in northern California that was only 12 percent contained as of Saturday night. That fire has burned over 3,200 acres with about 1,700 firefighters battling the blaze.
The air attack was halted when hobbyists were caught flying drones in the area.
"I as the chief am not willing to put those pilots or recourses they're supporting on the ground or the community at large at any value of risk," CAL Fire Chief Dave Teter said.
According to San Bernardino County Fire, evacuations were issued after at least two structures were burned and multiple others were threatened from a small vegetation fire.
Meanwhile in the northeast, dangerous storms caused treacherous conditions on the road and in the sky. Thousands of flights were grounded and two were killed after a van overturned on a New Jersey Highway.
