"You Make It Easy": How Jason Aldean’s newfound happiness shaped his latest #1

ABC/Image Group LAKelsea Ballerini's latest hit is called "I Hate Love Songs," and Jason Aldean admits that's a sentiment he mostly shares.  The only problem with that scenario? The three-time Entertainer of the Year's latest #1 hit "You Make It Easy" just happens to be a love song.

"Typically, I don't cut what I call the sappy love songs," Jason explains. "You know, if I cut a ballad, it's more of a heartache song. So whenever I find one of those songs that allows me to go that route, I think it's a little bit of a curve ball to everybody, because I don't do those songs that often."

"But when I find ones that are cool that work for what I do," he goes on,"then it's cool to pull it off. It's just typically I'm not attracted to those sort of sappy-type 'I love you so much' kinda songs. It's just not typically what I sing about."

Jason admits his willingness to be romantic these days may have something to do with the happiness he's found with his wife Brittany, and their little one, Memphis.

"You know, maybe it's because I'm in a better place in life now, and I can relate to those songs more," he tells ABC Radio. "Maybe that's it. I don't know. But I just know a great song when I hear it, and those were great songs."

The other tune Jason's referring to is "Girl Like You," another sexy song from his Rearview Town record, which recently debuted at #1 on Billboard's all-genre album chart.
